Self Help for Self Esteem
by Katrina Pfannkuch
Days when we feel down or less than, there isn’t always someone around to inspire you with a quick pick me up. Why wait for someone else to boost your spirits when you can do it yourself by building your own self esteem file?

First, identify your known strengths or positive qualities. Hard to get started? Jot down positive comments people have shared about your personality or accomplishments. Dig through cards or letters to find some good gems. Even better, start collecting new cards with inspirational thoughts you see at gift shops, yard sales, the checkout line, etc.

Come up with four people to help list your strengths: friends, co-workers, family or the mail man — anyone you see regularly and knows your personality. If you come up short, get out and make some new friends through volunteering, book clubs, or join an online group that focuses on a topic you enjoy.
When you have a group of people you feel comfortable with, propose an affirmation exchange. Not only will it bring you all closer, it will enable you to share tons of positive energy to fill that “rainy day” reserve.
