50 Interviews: Entrepreneurs
by Brian Schwartz
Reviewed by Bob McDonnell

Aspiring entrepreneurs or anyone who has thought of “going it alone” should read 50 Interviews: Entrepreneurs, by Fort Collins resident Brian Schwartz. This first-time author has a technical background and, like many of his fellow colleagues, longed to find greater fulfillment in his work.
When Schwartz began questioning his career future, his wife Debi challenged him to talk to 50 entrepreneurs, assuming he would lose interest in the project and stay in his current job. Fortunately, he did not.

Reading the interviews is like listening to highly successful people talk about how they got where they are and what they learned along the way. They share their start-up costs, the use (or not) of a business plan, how they came up with their unique idea, their challenges and rewards, and the classes, books and training they would recommend.

Brian selected a wide range of business people. Locals may recognize names like Jeff Nuttall, Doug Odell, Michael Burns and Donna Visocky, to name a few. The eclectic group also includes a chiropractor, a financial advisor, a massage therapist, an art gallery owner and a retailer.
The book ends with many words of wisdom from the people interviewed.
